A Daily Ritual of Presence, Intention, and Heart
There’s something sacred about starting the day with cacao. Not in a ceremonial circle—though that has its place, most definitely —but in the quiet hum of your own kitchen. Just you, the cacao, and a breath of intention.
This is how we return to rhythm. This is Rhythms of Prana.
In this blog, I’ll guide you through how to make your daily dose of Rhythms of Prana Cacao, a simple 22g cup of heart-opening goodness sourced from heirloom Criollo beans in Northern Peru. This isn’t a long, ceremonial process—but it is a meaningful one.
And that’s the beauty of cacao. It meets you exactly where you are.
🌱 What Cacao to Use (And Why I Always Weigh It)
At Rhythms of Prana, we use Ceremonial-Grade Criollo Cacao from Northern Peru—a heirloom strain known for its soft potency and heart-centred energy. This isn’t processed cocoa, like Coco powder. It’s the 'real deal'—stone-ground, sun-dried, untempered, and alive with the spirit of the plant.
When I prepare my cacao, I always weigh out 22 grams. Why?
Because I know how I like it to taste. Because I respect this sacred medicine and don’t wish to waste it. Because I often prepare it for others—and consistency is part of honouring that trust.
There’s no need to be rigid, but there is something beautiful about being precise with love. It’s part of my ritual. You’ll find your own rhythm, too.
🔥 Preparing with Intention (Without Overcomplicating It)
You don’t need feathers, chanting, or an altar to make cacao sacred. Don't get me wrong I Love this!! I love ceremony! But I don't need to do this on a daily basis, getting up to get to yoga for 6am before heading to work doesn’t leave a lot of time for 'ceremony' as we understand it to be.
What you need is reverence.
Reverence for the plant and where it came from.
Reverence for yourself.
Reverence for the moment.
Even when you’re making your morning dose in may it be between emails, there is power in slowing down, even briefly, to whisper a quiet thank you to the spirit of the cacao.
Remember:
🌿 You can live your life as ceremony.
🌿 You can enjoy Cacao as your daily coffee, too.
🌿 Intention, connection, and respect go a long way.
This daily ritual is your permission slip to begin again—with love.
Pair it with a gratitude journal, your breathwork, your yoga, or simply five minutes of silence. This is your rhythm. Own it.
🌀 Why Cacao is a Beautiful Alternative to Coffee
Many people come to cacao because they want to kick the coffee habit—but stay grounded and energised.
Here’s why cacao makes such a powerful replacement:
🌸 Gentle Stimulation: It contains theobromine, a cousin of caffeine that energises the body without jolting the nervous system.
🧠 Mood Elevation: Cacao increases serotonin and anandamide—your natural bliss chemicals.
❤️ Heart Health: Rich in magnesium, flavonoids, and antioxidants, it supports cardiovascular function and reduces inflammation.
🌬 Mental Clarity: You stay present, focused, and uplifted—without the crash or anxiety.
It’s not just a substitute. It’s an upgrade.
🎶 Add-Ins to Elevate Your Mood (and Your Blend)
While pure Cacao is medicine on its own, there are beautiful ways to personalise your cup. These are some of my favourites:
🍊 doTERRA Wild Orange 100% Pure Essential Oil
Just one or two drops brings brightness, vitality, and a gentle lift to your energy field. It supports immunity and uplifts mood with its zesty, citrus magic. *Please note, NOT ALL essential oils are ingestible - I do this but I am not suggesting for anyone else to unless you are sure what you are doing and that you know that your oil is pure and ingestible - Essential oils can be toxic and cause serious health issues when used incorrectly. Seek your own advice and do your own reseaech.
🧂 Celtic Sea Salt
A pinch deepens the flavour and adds essential minerals that support hydration, nervous system function, and electrolyte balance. It also balances Cacao’s natural bitterness beautifully.
🌶 Cayenne Pepper
Brings warmth, boosts circulation, and helps amplify the energetic properties of Cacao—great if you’re seeking an uplifting, activating cup.
🍂 Cinnamon
Supports blood sugar balance, digestion, and brings a gentle sweetness and warmth. Perfect for cozy morning rituals.
Feel into what your body wants that day. Let your intuition guide you.

💛 Drink With Love, Live With Rhythm
This isn't just about the Cacao. It’s about the space you create around it.
The way you pause.
The way you return to your breath.
The way you whisper yes to yourself, again and again.
So whether you’re brewing in your PJs or your sacred robe, whether you’re dancing or still, alone or in circle—know this:
You’re honouring something ancient.
And it starts with a cup.
